Autopilot offers

Prosper planEnterprise plan

Take the guesswork out of retention offers with AI-powered optimization. Autopilot tests offer variations, learns from real customer behavior, and quickly zeroes in on high-value offers. As it continues to run, Autopilot shifts more traffic to the best performering offers, pauses underperformers and introduces no variants over time.

How Autopilot offers work

When you create an Autopilot offer, you choose whether to optimize copywriting, discounts or both. For coupon offers, you set the boundaries: max discount and duration, gross margin and more.

Once you're configured your offer, Autopilot creates incentive and/or copy variants based on your choices. AI-generated copy always requires your approval before going live. Once the offer is added to a cancellation flow, Autopilot will test performance, adjust traffic allocation based on results, and keep exploring while favoring stronger performers.

Creating an Autopilot offer

To create an Autopilot offer, navigate to the Offers screen, click the Autopilot offers tab, and then click the Create an Autopilot offer button.

Goal, context and type

Autopilot is currently available only for the retention goal.

As with other offers, you must choose offer context and type.

Strategy

All offer types support copywriting optimization. For coupon offers, you can choose to optimize discount, copywriting or both.

Choosing an Autopilot strategy
  • Copywriting — Autopilot creates copy variants with unique headlines, content and button text.
  • Discount — Autopilot creates incentive variants to test different discount and duration combinations.
  • Both — Autopilot creates and optimizes both copy and incentive variants.

Basic details

Enter a name for your new Autopilot offer and provide basic details.

To learn more about these standard options, refer to the creating an offer page.

Control

Specify a control offer to compare Autopilot performance against a known baseline. When a control is configured, 20% of traffic goes to the control and 80% to Autopilot.

Offer incentives

When using just the copywriting strategy, you'll configure your incentives like you would for a standard offer. See offer types for details.

When using the discount strategy for coupon offers, you'll provide guardrailes for incentive variant generation.

Autopilot offer discount settings
  • Optimize for — Choose whether Autopilot should maximize customer retention (acceptance rate) or long-term value, factoring in average post-offer payments and gross margin (forecasted value). Forecasted value is only compatible with monthly subscriptions.
  • Discount range — Minimum and maximum discount Autopilot may use.
  • Max duration — Longest discount period Autopilot may offer.
  • Max generosity — From low to high, how aggressive Autopilot can be when combining discounts and durations. For example, you may want to allow a maximum 100% discount and a maximum 12 month duration, but not both at the same time.
  • Gross margin — The precentage of revenue kept after subtracting direct costs. For example, if it costs $20 to provide a $100 subscription, the gross margin is 80%. Gross margin helps Autopilot avoid unprofitable discount-duration combinations.
  • Require approval for incentive variants — When enabled, new incentive combinations need your approval before going live.

Copywriting

If you choose to use AI-generated copy, Autopilot will create copy variants with unique headlines, content and button text. You may optionally provide additional instructions for the AI to follow when generating copy.

Otherwise, you'll be asked to enter standard copy fields like any other offer.

Review and approve offer variants

Before using an Autopilot offer that includes AI-generated copy, you must approve at least one copy variant. If you enabled Require approval for incentive variants, coupon variants also require your approval.

Reviewing Autopilot offer variants

Copywriting approval

For each copy variant, you can approve as-is, make edits or regenerate completely.

If you'd like to make minor changes to the AI-generated copy, click the pencil icon to open the variant copy editor.

Alternatively, you can click the arrows icon to discard the current text and regenerate fresh copy.

Regenerating copy

When you're satisfied with the variant copy, click the Approve button.

Editing variant copy

Clicking the pencil icon beneath an offer variant opens a modal which allows you to edit the offer headline, content and button text like any other offer.

Editing Autopilot offer variant

Click Save and approve (or Save and close) when you're finished making edits.

Viewing Autopilot offer details

The Autopilot offer detail page provides performance metrics.

  • Insights — High-level outcomes such as acceptance (accepts, declines, and presentations) and saved revenue when available.
  • Control — See how Autopilot compares to your control, if selected.
  • Active variants — View active variant metrics like acceptance rate and forecasted revenue. The variant distribution chart shows how traffic has been allocated across variants over time.
  • Paused variants — Table of variants Autopilot has retired from active rotation, with historical acceptance and dates for reference.

Using an Autopilot offer in a cancellation flow

Before an Autopilot offer can start testing, it must be added to a cancellation flow via the offer rules editor.

When the rule containing an Autopilot offer is matched, ProsperStack selects an active variant (incentive and/or copy combination) for that subscriber according to Autopilot's ongoing optimization. If you selected a control offer, a portion of sessions receives the control instead.
